Cocktail Preparation
- 1
Brew the espresso
Brew a shot (1 oz) of fresh espresso using an espresso machine or stovetop moka pot. Allow it to cool slightly for 2–3 minutes.
- 2
Combine ingredients in shaker
In a cocktail shaker, add vodka, cooled espresso, coffee liqueur, and simple syrup if using.
- 3
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice cubes. Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds to chill and froth the drink.
- 4
Strain and pour
Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled martini or coupe glass to achieve a smooth, velvety texture.
Garnish and Serve
- 5
Add garnish
Gently place 3 whole coffee beans on top of the foam in the center of the drink as a garnish.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately while the foam is fresh and the drink is cold.
