Vanilla Ice Cream

Mix the base
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Chill the base
Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.

Churn the ice cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, usually about 20–25 minutes.

Freeze the ice cream
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 3–4 hours or until firm.
Chocolate Sauce

Combine dry ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the cocoa powder and granulated sugar. Stir to mix evenly.

Add cream and butter
Add the heavy cream and unsalted butter to the saucepan and place over medium heat.

Cook the sauce
Whisk constantly as the mixture heats up. Bring it to a gentle simmer and cook for 3–5 minutes until smooth and slightly thickened.

Finish and cool
Remove from heat, stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Let the sauce cool slightly before serving.

Serve the dessert
Scoop the vanilla ice cream into serving bowls or cones. Drizzle generously with warm chocolate sauce and serve immediately.
