Method

Prepare the Carajillo

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

Brew a fresh shot (1 oz) of espresso using an espresso machine or stovetop moka pot. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, add the Licor 43 and freshly brewed espresso.

  3. 3

    Add Ice

Add about 4 ice cubes to the shaker or glass to chill the mixture.

  4. 4

    Shake or Stir

Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds for a frothy texture, or stir gently if you prefer a smoother finish.

  5. 5

    Strain and Serve

Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice cubes for an on-the-rocks presentation.

Garnish (Optional)

  1. 6

Garnish with a strip of orange peel expressed over the drink for a citrus aroma, or add a cinnamon stick for a warm spice note.
