Method

Prepare the Ribs

  1. 1

    Season the Ribs

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub the spice mixture generously over both sides of the baby back ribs. Let the ribs sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.

  2. 2

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). This low and slow cooking method will help tenderize the ribs.

Cook the Ribs

  1. 3

    Wrap the Ribs

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil, ensuring they are sealed well to keep the moisture in.

  2. 4

    Bake

Place the wrapped ribs on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until they are tender and almost falling off the bone.

Prepare the BBQ Sauce

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and liquid smoke. Stir well to combine.

  2. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.

Glaze and Finish

  1. 7

    Preheat the Grill

If using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat.

  2. 8

    Glaze the Ribs

Remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap them from the foil. Brush a generous layer of the prepared BBQ sauce over the top of the ribs.

  3. 9

    Grill the Ribs (Optional)

If you want a smoky flavor, place the glazed ribs on the grill for 5-10 minutes, turning once and brushing with more sauce, until the sauce is caramelized and the ribs are heated through.

  4. 10

    Serve

Remove the ribs from the grill or oven, let them rest for a few minutes, then cut between the bones and serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
