Prepare the Coffee Mixture

Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee using a coffee maker or espresso machine. Let it cool slightly.

Sweeten the Coffee
Stir in 2 tablespoons of sugar into the warm espresso until dissolved. Set aside to cool completely.
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of sugar until thick and pale in color.

Incorporate Mascarpone
Add 1 cup of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg yolk mixture and mix until smooth.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Fold Mixtures Together
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
Assemble the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over them.

Repeat Layers
Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
Chill and Serve

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.

Cut the tiramisu into squares and serve chilled.
