Preparation
- 1
Prepare Simple Syrup
If you don't have simple syrup ready, you can make it by combining equal parts sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves, then let it cool.
- 2
Muddle Mint
In a sturdy glass, add the fresh mint leaves. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press the mint leaves to release their essential oils. Do not shred the leaves; just bruise them.
- 3
Add Lime Juice and Simple Syrup
Pour the lime juice and simple syrup over the muddled mint in the glass. Stir gently to combine the flavors.
Mixing
- 4
Add Rum
Pour the white rum into the glass with the mint, lime juice, and simple syrup mixture. Stir gently to combine.
- 5
Garnishing
- 6
Garnish the Drink
Add a lime wedge and a sprig of mint on top of the drink for garnish. This will enhance the presentation and aroma.
