Hibiscus Tea Base

Cocktail Ingredients

Method

Prepare Hibiscus Tea Base

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Steep Hibiscus Flowers

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 1 cup of dried hibiscus flowers. Let it steep for about 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Strain Tea

After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the hibiscus flowers.

  4. 4

    Sweeten the Tea

While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of sugar until it fully dissolves.

  5. 5

    Add Lime Juice

Finally, stir in 1 cup of fresh lime juice into the tea base. Set aside to cool.

Mix the Cocktail

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled hibiscus tea base, 1 cup of vodka, and 1 cup of fresh mint leaves. Stir well.

  2. 7

    Prepare Serving Glasses

Fill each serving glass with ice cubes, about 1 cup per glass.

  3. 8

    Pour the Cocktail

Pour the hibiscus cocktail mixture over the ice in each glass.

  4. 9

    Garnish

Garnish with lime slices and additional mint leaves if desired.
