Homemade Lady Fingers

Coffee Mixture

Garnish

Method

Mascarpone Mousse

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mousse

In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

  2. 2

    Whip the Cream

In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined. Set aside.

Homemade Lady Fingers

  1. 4

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 5

    Beat Eggs and Sugar

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy.

  3. 6

    Incorporate Flour

Sift together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch, then gently fold into the egg mixture. Add a pinch of salt.

  4. 7

    Pipe the Lady Fingers

Transfer the batter into a piping bag and pipe long strips onto the prepared baking sheet.

  5. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool completely.

Coffee Mixture

  1. 9

    Prepare the Coffee Mixture

In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee with coffee liqueur (if using) and allow to cool.

Assembling Tiramisu

  1. 10

    Dip Lady Fingers

Quickly dip each cooled lady finger into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

  2. 11

    Layer Tiramisu

In a serving dish, layer half of the soaked lady fingers, followed by half of the mascarpone mousse. Repeat the layers.

  3. 12

    Chill

Cover and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

Garnishing

  1. 13

    Garnish

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle chocolate shavings.
