Method
DESSERT
- 1
Prepare the Cake Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
- 2
- 3
Incorporate Boiling Water
Stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin.
- 4
Bake the Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 5
Cool the Cake
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from the pans and transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
- 6
Prepare the Banana Ice Cream
While the cakes are cooling, peel and slice the ripe bananas. Place them in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
- 7
Add Heavy Cream and Sugar
Add the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract (for ice cream) to the blended bananas and blend until creamy and well mixed.
- 8
Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the banana ice cream mixture to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
- 9
Assemble the Cake
Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of banana ice cream on top. Place the second cake layer on top and frost with additional banana ice cream, if desired.
- 10
Serve
Slice the chocolate cake and serve with a scoop of banana ice cream on the side.
