Method

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 1

    Green Beans

Trim the ends of the green beans and wash them thoroughly. Boil a pot of salted water and blanch the green beans for 3-4 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Carrots

Peel and slice the carrots into thin rounds. Steam the carrots for about 5-7 minutes until they are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  3. 3

    Corn

If using fresh corn, remove the kernels from the cob. If using frozen, thaw the corn. Sauté the corn in a pan with a little butter for about 5-7 minutes until heated through and slightly caramelized.

Starch Preparation

  1. 4

    Mashed Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes). Drain and mash the potatoes with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth.

  2. 5

    Rice

Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of rice with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for about 18 minutes until the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork.

  3. 6

    Quinoa

Rinse the quinoa under cold water. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of quinoa with 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes until the water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and season with salt.

Sauce Preparation

  1. 7

    Gravy

In a saucepan, heat the gravy over medium heat until warmed through. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

  2. 8

    Honey Mustard

In a small bowl, mix together equal parts honey and mustard. Adjust the sweetness to taste.

  3. 9

    BBQ Sauce

Pour the BBQ sauce into a small saucepan and heat over low until warmed. Stir occasionally.
