Method

Brewing the Tea

  1. 1

    Heat the Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Add the Tea Leaves

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 4 teaspoons of black tea leaves directly into the water.

  3. 3

    Steep the Tea

Cover the saucepan and let the tea steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.

  4. 4

    Strain the Tea

After steeping, strain the tea leaves using a fine mesh strainer or tea strainer to remove the leaves.

Sweetening the Tea (Optional)

  1. 5

    Add Sugar or Honey

If you prefer sweet tea, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar or 1 tablespoon of honey while the tea is still warm. Stir until completely dissolved.

Cooling the Tea

  1. 6

    Cool the Tea

Allow the brewed tea to cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 1 hour.

Serving the Tea

  1. 7

    Serve Over Ice

Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the chilled black iced tea over the ice.

  2. 8

    Garnish (Optional)

Add lemon slices and fresh mint leaves for garnish if desired.
