Shepherd's Pie Ingredients
Method
Shepherd's Pie Directions
- 1
Prepare the Mushroom Orzo
In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the orzo and cook for about 8-10 minutes or until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrots, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until the vegetables are softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
- 3
Add the Ground Meat
Add the ground beef or lamb to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 4
Add Flavorings
Stir in the mushroom XO sauce, vegetable broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Add the frozen peas and cooked mushroom orzo. Mix well to combine.
- 5
Assemble the Shepherd's Pie
Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish. Top with a layer of mashed potatoes, spreading it out to cover the entire surface.
- 6
Bake the Pie
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the shepherd's pie for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
