Roast Garlic Hummus Ingredients

Method

Roast Garlic Hummus Directions

  1. 1

    Roast the Garlic

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the top off the head of garlic to expose the cloves. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and wrap it in aluminum foil. Roast in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the cloves are soft and lightly browned. Once done, let it cool before using.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Chickpeas

While the garlic is roasting, rinse and drain the canned chickpeas. This helps remove excess sodium and improves the texture of the hummus.

  3. 3

    Blend Ingredients

In a food processor, add the roasted garlic cloves (squeeze them out of their skins), chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, ground cumin, and salt. Blend until the mixture is smooth.

  4. 4

    Adjust Consistency

If the hummus is too thick, gradually add water (1 tablespoon at a time) until you reach your desired consistency.

  5. 5

    Taste and Season

Taste the hummus and adjust seasoning with more salt, lemon juice, or cumin as needed. You can also add paprika for an extra kick.

  6. 6

    Serve

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika and fresh parsley for garnish. Serve with pita bread, veggies, or crackers.
