NY Strip with Mascarpone Grits, Jimmy Nardello Relish, Almond, and Jus

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the grits and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.

  2. 2

    Add Mascarpone

Once the grits are cooked, stir in the mascarpone cheese until fully incorporated and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Pat the NY strip steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.

  5. 5

    Make the Jus

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest. In the same skillet, add beef stock and fresh thyme. Bring to a boil, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom. Reduce to a simmer and let it reduce for about 10 minutes.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Relish

While the jus is reducing, sauté the Jimmy Nardello peppers in a separate pan with a little olive oil until soft, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  7. 7

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, spoon a generous serving of mascarpone grits. Place the seared NY strip on top, add the sautéed Jimmy Nardello peppers, and drizzle with the jus. Garnish with sliced almonds.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your NY strip steak with mascarpone grits and relish.
