Preparation
1. Prepare the Glass
Fill a highball glass with ice cubes to chill it while you prepare the drink.
2. Muddle Juniper Berries
In a separate glass or cocktail shaker, add the juniper berries. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the juniper berries to release their oils and flavor.
3. Add Gin
Pour 2 oz of gin over the muddled juniper berries and stir gently to combine the flavors.
4. Squeeze Lime Juice
Cut the lime in half. Squeeze the juice from one half into the gin and juniper mixture, stirring to combine. Reserve the other half for garnish.
5. Combine with Tonic Water
Strain the gin and juniper mixture into the prepared glass filled with ice. Slowly pour 4 oz of tonic water over the mixture to avoid excessive fizzing.
Garnishing
6. Add Mint and Lime Wedge
Garnish the drink with 5 fresh mint leaves and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass for added aroma and visual appeal.
