Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Green Beans
Wash the fresh green beans under cold water, and trim the ends by cutting off the stem ends.
- 2
Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease. Reserve 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease in the skillet.
Cooking
- 3
Combine Ingredients in Slow Cooker
In a slow cooker, add the trimmed green beans. Crumble the cooked bacon and add it on top of the green beans. Pour in the reserved bacon grease from the skillet.
- 4
Add Seasonings
Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes over the green beans and bacon in the slow cooker.
- 5
Add Water
Pour 1 cup of water into the slow cooker to provide moisture for cooking.
- 6
Cook the Green Beans
Cover the slow cooker and set it on low heat. Cook for about 6 hours or until the green beans are tender.
Serving
- 7
Serve the Dish
Once the green beans are cooked, stir them gently to combine with the bacon and seasonings. Serve warm as a side dish.
