Method

For the Nutella Poppers

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  3. 3

    Form the Poppers

Spoon a tablespoon of dough into your palm, flatten it slightly, and place about a teaspoon of Nutella in the center. Fold the dough over the Nutella and shape it into a ball. Repeat with remaining dough.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Poppers

Carefully drop the Nutella-filled balls into the hot oil, frying them in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Dust with Powdered Sugar

While still warm, dust the poppers with powdered sugar before serving.

For the Bourbon Whipped Cream

  1. 7

    Whip the Cream

In a chilled mixing bowl, combine heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, Old Forester bourbon, and vanilla extract.

  2. 8

    Beat Until Stiff Peaks

Using an electric mixer, beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Continue beating until stiff peaks form, being careful not to overmix.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the Bourbon Whipped Cream alongside the Nutella Poppers for dipping.
