Prepare the Mint
In a mint julep glass or a mixing glass, gently muddle the fresh mint leaves with the powdered sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to press the mint leaves against the bottom of the glass to release their oils. Be careful not to tear them too much.

Mix the Ingredients
Add the Makers Mark bourbon and simple syrup to the muddled mint and sugar mixture. Pour in the water to help dissolve the sugar and mix the ingredients together gently.

Add Crushed Ice
Fill the glass with crushed ice, packing it in tightly. This will chill the drink and help keep it refreshing.

Garnish and Serve
Garnish the drink with a few fresh mint leaves on top. Serve with a straw and enjoy your refreshing Makers Mint Julep!
