Method
Potato Preparation
- 1
Cutting Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 2
Soaking Potatoes
Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes the fries crispier.
- 3
Drying Potatoes
After soaking, drain the water and pat the potatoes dry with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.
- 4
Heating Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
Frying Potatoes
- 5
Frying Process
Carefully add a batch of dried potato strips to the hot oil. Don’t overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Draining Fries
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while they are still hot.
Garlic Mixture
- 7
Preparing Garlic Butter
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add minced garlic (chop the garlic cloves finely) and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
- 8
Combining Ingredients
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley. Mix well.
Serving
- 9
Tossing Fries
In a large bowl, combine the hot fries with the garlic butter mixture. Toss well to ensure all fries are coated.
- 10
Serving Suggestion
Serve immediately while hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
