Bacon
Bourbon Maple Glaze
Method
Preparation of Bacon
- 1
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- 2
Arrange Bacon
Place the thick cut smoked bacon strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Ensure they do not overlap.
Making the Bourbon Maple Glaze
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine Old Forester bourbon, maple syrup, brown sugar, soy sauce, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper.
- 4
Simmer the Glaze
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the brown sugar has dissolved and the mixture starts to simmer. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
Cooking the Bacon
- 5
Bake the Bacon
Place the bacon in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes or until crispy, flipping halfway through the cooking time.
- 6
Glaze the Bacon
Once the bacon is crispy, remove it from the oven and brush generously with the bourbon maple glaze. Return the bacon to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to allow the glaze to caramelize.
Serving
- 7
Serve
Remove the candied bacon from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Serve the remaining bourbon maple glaze on the side for dipping.
