Method

Meatloaf Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Meatloaf Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Shape the Meatloaf

Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.

Bourbon Glaze Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Glaze

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, bourbon, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until the mixture is well combined and the sugar has dissolved.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Glaze

Bring the glaze to a simmer and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.

Cooking the Meatloaf

  1. 6

    Bake the Meatloaf

Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.

  2. 7

    Add the Glaze

After 45 minutes, remove the meatloaf from the oven and brush half of the bourbon glaze over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

  3. 8

    Rest and Slice

Once cooked, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 9

    Boil the Potatoes

In a large pot, add the quartered potatoes and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 10

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Serving

  1. 11

    Serve the Dish

Serve slices of the bourbon glazed meatloaf alongside a generous scoop of mashed potatoes. Drizzle additional bourbon glaze over the top if desired.
