Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (1.5 cups) and sugar (1 tbsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tsp) over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour (4 cups) and salt (1 tsp). Mix well to ensure the salt is evenly distributed.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, then pour in the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil (3 tbsp).

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until it begins to form a dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. You may need to add a little more flour if the dough is sticky.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.

Assembly & Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.

  2. 7

    Prepare Baking Surface

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Transfer to a floured surface and roll it out to your desired thickness for the base.

  3. 8

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Spread the tomato sauce (1 cup) evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese (2 cups) evenly on top. Add fresh basil leaves (1 cup) and finish with grated Parmesan cheese (0.5 cup).

  4. 9

    Bake

Transfer the topped dough onto a baking sheet or pizza stone and bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown, and the crust is crispy.

  5. 10

    Serve

Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, slice, and serve hot. Enjoy your delicious homemade Baker's!
