Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Select a 16 fl oz (473 ml) tall glass (collins or highball). Fill the glass about halfway with cubed ice to chill and create room for mixing.

  2. 2

    Add spirits and mixers

In a mixing glass or shaker without shaking, combine 1.5 fl oz vodka, 0.5 fl oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup. Stir gently for 5–8 seconds to combine.

  3. 3

    Assemble cocktail

Discard any excess water from the ice-filled serving glass if needed. Place the hulled and sliced strawberries or halved red grapes into the bottom of the serving glass. Pour the vodka-lemon-simple syrup mixture over the fruit and ice. Add 8 fl oz of sweet red wine (such as Lambrusco or Brachetto). Top with 6.5 fl oz club soda to reach roughly 16 fl oz total. Drizzle 0.25 fl oz grenadine slowly over the top so it sinks slightly and creates a layered sweet-red hue.

  4. 4

    Finish and garnish

Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to integrate the layers while keeping some visual gradient. Garnish with a lemon wheel or twist on the rim. If desired, drop an extra berry or a couple grape halves into the drink for visual appeal.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve immediately with a straw. Sip and enjoy the balanced sweetness, effervescence from the soda, and bright citrus lift from the lemon.
