Golden Golden Milk Latte

Method

Golden Golden Milk Latte

  1. 1

    Warm and infuse

In a small saucepan, combine 2 cups of your chosen milk, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp grated fresh ginger, 1 tsp ground cinnamon, a pinch of ground black pepper, and a pinch of ground cardamom (if using). Add 1 tsp coconut oil or ghee. Whisk the mixture to evenly distribute the spices.

  2. 2

    Simmer gently

Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Warm the mixture until it is hot but not boiling, about 5–7 minutes. Stir frequently and reduce heat if it begins to simmer vigorously. This gentle heating helps the flavors meld without scalding the milk.

  3. 3

    Sweeten and finish

Remove the pan from heat. Stir in 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 1½ tablespoons honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste). Taste and add more sweetener if desired. If you prefer a smoother texture and fuller extraction of spices, transfer the warm mixture to a blender and blend on high for 15–20 seconds (be careful with hot liquids).

  4. 4

    Strain (optional) and serve

If you used fresh grated ginger or blended, strain the latte through a fine-mesh sieve into a measuring cup or directly into your serving vessel to remove fibrous bits. Pour into a 16 fl oz (473 ml) cup. Top with a cinnamon stick or a light dusting of ground cinnamon and a tiny pinch of turmeric if desired.
