Method
Assembly and Baking
- 1
Roll out Dough
On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a large round cutter, about 4-5 inches in diameter.
- 2
Fill Empanadas
Place about 1-2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each dough circle. Be careful not to overfill.
- 3
Seal Empanadas
Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative touch.
- 4
Prepare Egg Wash
Beat the egg in a small bowl to create an egg wash.
- 5
Brush Egg Wash
Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the tops of the empanadas with the egg wash.
- 6
Bake Empanadas
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
