Base Ingredients

Method

Baking the Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add the egg, milk, and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture and mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry

Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake

Pour the batter into a greased 8-inch round cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Preparing the Rose Decoration

  1. 8

    Make Frosting

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and powdered sugar. Mix until well blended, then add the milk and food coloring. Beat until you achieve a smooth consistency.

  2. 9

    Decorate

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top. Use a piping bag to create rose decorations if desired, and sprinkle with edible glitter for decoration.
