Biscotti Ingredients

Method

Biscotti Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Eggs

In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and egg mixture. Mix until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Cranberries and Nuts

Fold in the chopped cranberries, orange zest, and slivered almonds until evenly distributed.

  6. 6

    Shape the Dough

Divide the dough in half and shape each half into a log about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Place the logs onto the prepared baking sheet about 4 inches apart.

  7. 7

    Bake the Logs

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.

  8. 8

    Slice the Biscotti

Using a serrated knife, cut the logs into 1/2 inch thick slices. Place the slices cut side down on the baking sheet.

  9. 9

    Second Bake

Return the sliced biscotti to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until golden and crisp. Remove from oven and cool completely.
