1. Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling a rocks glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the drink.

2. Measure the Cognac

Take 2 ounces of Courvoisier VSOP Cognac and pour it into a mixing glass.

3. Add Ice

Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes to chill the cognac.

4. Stir the Mixture

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds to chill the cognac without diluting it too much.

5. Strain into Glass

Remove the ice water from the chilled rocks glass, and strain the chilled cognac mixture into the glass.

Garnishing

6. Prepare the Garnish

Twist a piece of orange peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass.

7. Add Cherry

Garnish the drink with a cocktail cherry placed on top or on the rim of the glass.
