Bread Pudding
Method
Preparation
- 1
Soak the Raisins
In a small bowl, combine the golden raisins with warm water. Let them soak for about 20 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Bread
Cube the stale bread into 1-inch pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.
- 3
Make the Custard
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- 4
Combine Ingredients
Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Add the soaked golden raisins and gently fold everything together to ensure the bread absorbs the liquid.
- 5
Bake the Pudding
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour the bread mixture into it. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the bread pudding from the oven and let it cool for about 15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla gelato on top.
