Method

Prepare the Hamburger

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and divide into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook each patty for about 4-5 minutes per side or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to allow the cheese to melt.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

Lightly butter the insides of the hamburger buns and toast them on the grill or in a skillet until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place the lettuce, then the cooked patty with melted cheese, followed by slices of tomato and onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.

Prepare the Sides

  1. 6

    French Fries

Prepare French fries according to package instructions, or fry fresh potatoes until crispy and golden brown.

  2. 7

    Carrot Sticks

Wash and cut carrots into sticks, serve raw.

  3. 8

    Apple Slices

Wash and slice apples into wedges, serve raw.

Serve the Meal

  1. 9

    Pour the Soft Drink

Serve 1 cup of soft drink with each meal.

  2. 10

    Optional Ice Cream

If desired, add a scoop of ice cream on the side or as a dessert.
