Fried Pickles

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second bowl, mix together the cornmeal, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In a third bowl, pour in the buttermilk.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice first in the flour, then in the buttermilk, and finally in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring each slice is well coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering (about 350°F or 175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully add the breaded pickles to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried pickles warm with ranch dressing on the side.

Ranch Dressing

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice.

  2. 8

    Mix Well

Whisk the ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  3. 9

    Chill

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
