Method
Preparation of Creamy Horseradish Sauce
- 1
Mix the Sauce
In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, prepared horseradish, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended. Set aside in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the rest of the sandwich.
Assemble the French Dip Sandwich
- 2
Heat the Broth
In a small saucepan, heat the beef broth over medium heat until it is simmering. This will be used for dipping.
- 3
Prepare the Rolls
Slice the sub rolls lengthwise, leaving one side attached to create a hinge.
- 4
Layer the Ingredients
In each sub roll, layer the thinly sliced beef roast evenly. Top each with a slice of Swiss cheese.
- 5
Melt the Cheese
Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for about 2-3 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the broiler, serve hot with the simmering au jus on the side for dipping, and a dollop of creamy horseradish sauce on top or on the side.
