Method

Chicken Fried Steak

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

Season the Angus beef cutlets with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

  2. 2

    Prepare Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one for flour again.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cutlets

Dip each seasoned beef cutlet first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally back into the flour. Ensure they are well coated.

  4. 4

    Fry the Steaks

Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded cutlets for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Country Style Gravy

  1. 5

    Make the Roux

In the same skillet used for the steaks, add 1 cup of all-purpose flour to the remaining oil and whisk constantly over medium heat until the mixture is golden brown.

  2. 6

    Add Liquids

Gradually whisk in the milk and chicken broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.

  3. 7

    Season the Gravy

Season the gravy with salt and black pepper to taste. Keep warm on low heat until serving.

Garlic Gouda Mashed Potatoes

  1. 8

    Cook the Potatoes

Peel and chop the russet potatoes into chunks. Boil them in salted water for about 15-20 minutes until tender.

  2. 9

    Add Garlic

In the last 5 minutes of boiling, add whole garlic cloves to the pot.

  3. 10

    Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and garlic. In a large bowl, mash them together with butter, gouda cheese, milk, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.

Steamed Broccoli

  1. 11

    Steam the Broccoli

In a pot with a steamer basket, bring water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and steam for about 5 minutes until vibrant green and tender but still crisp.

  2. 12

    Season

Remove from steamer and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
