Method
Making the Dough
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
Cooking the Naan
- 5
Preheat the Pan
Heat a cast-iron skillet or a tandoor over medium-high heat.
- 6
Shape the Naan
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into an oval or teardrop shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 7
Cook the Naan
Place the shaped naan on the hot skillet. Cook for about 1-2 minutes on one side until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

- 9
Serve
Remove the naan from the skillet and serve warm with your favorite Indian dishes.
