Shrimp & Grits Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

1

Prepare the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in the grits and a pinch of salt. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the grits are creamy.

2

Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet, cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.

3

Cook the Shrimp

In the same skillet with the bacon drippings, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute. Add the shrimp and cajun seasoning, cooking until the shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

4

Finish the Grits

Once the grits are cooked, stir in the butter and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and well combined. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

5

Serve

Serve the cheesy grits in bowls topped with the sautéed shrimp, crispy bacon, and chopped green onions.
