Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to the package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the fettuccine in a colander.
Making the Cheese Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large skillet or saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
- 5
- 6
Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 7
Incorporate Parmesan
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce is smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
- 9
Combine
Add the drained fettuccine pasta to the cheese sauce in the skillet. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
