Cooking Pasta

Prepare the Pasta
In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti, fusilli, and penne according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
Making the Sauce

Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 10 minutes.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed for desired consistency. Stir in chopped basil and remove from heat.

Plate the pasta and top with grated Parmesan cheese. Garnish with additional basil if desired.
