Margarita Mix & Spirits
Rim & Garnish
Ice
Method
Prep Rim
- 1
Salt the glass
Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of a rocks or coupe glass (or the inside rim if you prefer). Spread the salt on a small plate and gently press the wet rim into the salt to coat. Set the glass aside.
Mixing
- 2
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 1 oz fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz simple syrup (omit or reduce if you prefer a drier margarita) into a cocktail shaker.
- 3
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice cubes (about 1 cup), secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 4
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (for a rocks margarita) or without ice into the chilled coupe (for a straight-up margarita). Use a fine mesh strainer if available to remove any pulp or small ice chips.
Garnish & Serve
- 5
Garnish with the reserved lime wedge on the rim or float it in the drink. Serve immediately.
