Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Filling Mixture

In a medium bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips, chopped walnuts, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Stir until evenly mixed.

Assembly & Baking

  1. 6

    Layer the Base and Filling

Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish. Evenly spread the filling mixture over the batter, then pour the remaining batter on top, ensuring the filling is covered.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  3. 8

    Cool

Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Topping Preparation

  1. 9

    Prepare Topping

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

  2. 10

    Serve

Dust the top of the cooled dessert with the powdered sugar and cocoa mixture, then serve with a dollop of whipped cream on each slice.
