For the Martini
Method
Preparation
- 1
Chill the Glass
Begin by chilling your martini glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the martini.
- 2
Mix the Martini
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of gin or vodka and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth. Fill the shaker with 1 cup of ice cubes.
- 3
Shake or Stir
Cover the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds if you prefer a shaken martini, or stir gently for about 30 seconds for a stirred martini.
- 4
- 5
Garnish
Garnish your martini with either an olive placed on a cocktail pick or a twist of lemon peel. If using lemon, twist the peel over the drink to release its oils before placing it in the glass.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately and enjoy your classic gin or vodka martini!
