Method
Brownie Base
- 1
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Butter
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with 1.5 cups granulated sugar and 0.5 cup brown sugar. Stir until well combined.
- 4
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the 3 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp vanilla extract until smooth.
- 5
Combine Dry Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, 0.5 tsp baking powder, and 0.25 tsp salt.
- 6
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix. Fold in 1 cup chocolate chips.
- 7
Bake Brownies
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- 8
Cool Brownies
Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Strawberry Topping
- 9
Prepare Strawberries
While the brownies are baking, wash and hull 2 cups of fresh strawberries. Slice them into halves or quarters, depending on your preference.
- 10
Mix with Sugar and Lemon Juice
In a bowl, combine the sliced strawberries with 1 tbsp granulated sugar and 1 tbsp lemon juice. Toss gently to coat the strawberries evenly.
- 11
Let Strawberries Macerate
Allow the strawberries to sit for about 10-15 minutes. This will help them release their juices and create a delicious syrup.
