Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat, stirring occasionally until completely melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mixing the Batter

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  2. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, beat the eggs and then add the melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.

  3. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  4. 6

    Add Mix-ins (if using)

If you are using walnuts or chocolate chips, fold them into the batter gently.

Baking

  1. 7

    Pour and Bake

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  2. 8

    Cooling

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes before cutting into squares.
