Spicy Maple Syrup
Method
Fried Chicken
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for best results).
- 2
Prepare for Frying
In a shallow dish, place the flour. Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour until well coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the breaded chicken breasts and fry for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove the chicken and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Cinnamon Sugar Waffle
- 4
Preheat the Waffle Iron
Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- 5
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
- 6
- 7
Make the Waffle Batter
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix; lumps are okay.
- 8
Cook the Waffles
Pour the batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown.
Spicy Maple Syrup
- 9
Prepare the Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine the maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until warmed through. Do not boil.
