Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps them cook evenly.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and let it heat until shimmering.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Place the ribeye steaks in the hot pan. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them, until a golden crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Flavors

Flip the steaks over and add the butter and fresh rosemary to the pan. Cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, basting the steaks with the melted butter.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, aim for 130°F (54°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Slice and Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve with your favorite sides.
