Prepare the Topping
Chop the fresh tomatoes into small cubes and place them in a bowl.

Add Seasonings
Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes. Tear the basil leaves into small pieces and add them as well. Season with salt and black pepper, mixing everything gently.

Let the Mixture Rest
Let the tomato mixture sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Slice the Baguette
Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch thick slices.

Toast the Bread
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the bread slices on a baking sheet, oiled side up, and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.

Top the Toasts
Remove the toasted bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Top each slice generously with the tomato mixture.
