Build and serve
Fill a highball or old-fashioned glass with ice cubes (enough to come near the top of the glass). Pour 1 oz Campari over the ice, then add 1 oz sweet vermouth. Gently stir the two spirits once or twice with a bar spoon to combine and slightly chill (about 5–8 seconds). Top with about 2 oz chilled soda water poured gently down the side of the glass to preserve effervescence. Give one very brief gentle stir to integrate the soda without knocking out too much fizz.

Garnish and finish
Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick squeeze, or simply place an orange slice on the rim. Serve immediately with a short stirring spoon or a reusable straw.
