Prepare the Strawberries
Wash the fresh strawberries thoroughly, remove the stems, and slice them into halves.

Juice the Citrus
Squeeze fresh lemon and lime juice using a citrus juicer. Measure out 2 tablespoons of each juice.

Prepare Basil
Rinse the fresh basil leaves under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine the sliced strawberries, lemon juice, lime juice, vodka, and simple syrup.

Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently muddle the mixture to release the strawberry flavors and integrate the juices.

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill the mixture.
Serving

Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice. Top with soda water and gently stir to combine.
