Preparation

1

Muddle the Sugar

In an Old Fashioned glass, place the sugar cube and add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters on top of it.

2

Add Water

Add a few drops of water to help dissolve the sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to crush and mix the sugar and bitters until the sugar is dissolved.

3

Add Bourbon

Pour 2 ounces of bourbon over the muddled sugar and bitters mixture.

4

Stir

Add a large ice cube or a few smaller ice cubes to the glass. Stir gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.

Garnishing

5

Prepare the Garnish

Take a strip of orange peel and twist it over the drink to release its oils. Optionally, run the peel around the rim of the glass.

6

Add the Garnish

Drop the twisted orange peel into the drink and add a maraschino cherry on top for a classic finish.
