Muddle Vanilla Bean
Slice the fresh vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the seeds into a mixing glass. Add the empty pod to the glass. This will infuse the drink with a rich vanilla flavor.

Add Sugar and Whiskey
Add 1 tsp of turbinado sugar to the mixing glass with the muddled vanilla. Pour in 2 oz of Texas whiskey and stir gently to dissolve the sugar.

Add Bitters
Add 2 dashes of barrel-aged bitters to the mixture in the mixing glass.

Add Ice
Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes (about 3 cubes) and stir the mixture for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into Glass
Strain the mixture into an old fashioned glass over a large ice cube to keep it chilled without diluting too quickly.

Garnish
Express the oils from an orange twist over the drink and drop the twist into the glass as a garnish.
