Marinade

Method

Marinade Preparation

1

Make the Marinade

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

2

Marinate the Steak

Place the flank steak in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

Rice Cooking

3

Rinse the Rice

In a fine-mesh strainer, rinse the long-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

4

Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.

Beans Preparation

5

Heat the Beans

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the canned black beans, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, and salt. Stir well and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until heated through.

Steak Grilling

6

Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat.

7

Grill the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and allow excess marinade to drip off. Grill the steak for about 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
